Another officeholder stung by impropriety

We recently learned, from Recorder Brenner, of a Federal Tax Lien filed 5/13/2008 for “1040 Taxes” dating back to 2004 in the amount of $304,183.03 in favor of the United States against Delaware County Common Pleas Court Clerk, Jan Antonoplos, and her husband Bill. We published that a couple of weeks ago.

Considering that all of any politician’s pay is 100% your tax money, there is no small amount of irony in such a staggering amount of taxes due from a powerful member of the Delaware County regime, especially from those who have contributed so much money, hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past few years, to Republican candidates, including Bush, Voinovich, DeWine, Tiberi, Kasich, Taylor, Petro, Blackwell, Peterson, Harris, Householder, Taft, and almost every Delaware Republican who is in or ever ran for office. Certainly, this odd financial behavior begs many questions including; if she's not paying her taxes, how could so many contributions be possible? What could be the source of funds permitting such generosity and incurring such a staggering tax lien?

If we go to Manatee County Florida we find some very interesting public filings occurring when the 5/13/2008 Tax Lien against the Bill and Jan Antonoplos was filed. It seems as if a foreclosure action by Citimortgage Inc. against Jan and Bill Antonoplos was filed naming them and our own P. Ronald Sabatino as defendants in that action in the Circuit Court of the 12th Judicial Circuit in and for Manatee County Florida, Case Number 2008-CA-003676. http://www.manateeclerk.com/ordisclaimer.htm Follow this link , click "name search" and type in Antonoplos Jan. You should get four citations -- one of them will lead you to the next couple of paragraphs.

Now we have another troubling question. How did Mr. Sabatino get snagged in Jan Antonoplos’ financial quagmire?

Again, in Manatee County Florida, on the 15th of August 2006, just ten days before a thirty-year $381,000.00 mortgage was filed by Bill and Jan Antonoplos with Union Savings Bank (of Ohio), another mortgage was filed on that same property in Manatee County Florida.

This mortgage is fascinating. It seems Mr. P. Ronald Sabatino of Dublin Ohio (a local Delaware County developer) businessman and person of significant political influence and generous contributions to other Delaware County Republicans also provides mortgage financing. The Manatee County, August 15, 2006 mortgage from him to Jan Antonoplos is for a principal amount of $110,000.00 with a term extending to “September 1, 2111." (That’s not a typo)

That’s right readers -- Mr. Sabatino loaned Ms. Jan Antonoplos (not including husband Bill) $110,000.00 on a ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE YEAR MORTGAGE.

What’s up with that? It seems that transactions including mortgages, on second properties used for recreation purposes, don’t have to be reported on Ohio Ethics Commission financial disclosure forms. Now that’s a loophole! Makes you wonder how many other Ohio politicians have similar non-traditional mortgages. Do you wonder what they are hiding in plain view?

Just a note: It’s not pleasant to observe the financial difficulties of anyone in this Bush/Republican economy. Clearly, the Antonoplos' are under extreme duress. According to Franklin County Court Records, there is a new civil case at his office address, as well. However, it is problematic with a bonded elected official and we urge Ms. Antonoplos to consider that -- and quickly decide if she is acting in the best interest of the public trust.

However, unlike the slime generated by Recorder Brenner in the March 2008 primaries against private citizens and Brenner's and Evans' disgusting work in the November 2007 campaigns, these facts are from public records. Look for yourself, if they’ll let you see them. In Delaware County, public records can be difficult to find.
